Hey, which spell check extension are you using? That could be handy. Finally got around to upgrading just now...

So it looks prettier than IE? I don't find that a particularly compelling argument. Anyone got a better one?

Aracos, give it a try and see. Personally, I don't trust IE for many things on the Internet. I'm not saying Firefox is completely secure, but I find it much more secure than any version of IE I've been using, including the IE6 release in XP SP2.
The tabbed browsing is nice, and keeps you from having to do the ALT-TAB thing when trying to view multiple web pages at once, the extensions are very nice including a customizable ad-blocker (click the ad on the page, choose BLOCK, ads from that server disappear), spell checkers, etc.

Oh believe me, I'm willing to be convinced. I cringe everytime I see a security update pertaining to IE on some tech site. I'm just trying to find out what the tangible benefits of switching would be.

Chance Folly already posted the switch2firefox link. That might answer some of your questions.
For me, I've been using Firefox for about a year. I can count on one hand the number of popups I've had since that day. Also, since I started using the Adblocker extension, it's VERY rare I see a banner or other ad anymore.

You can find a lot of extensions for mouse gestures, I personally use All-In-One Gestures.

Wich one? I use Spellbound and it works...after some 'hacking', look on the mozilla forums.
BTW, if anyone tried FF 1.5 RC3, it's the same as the final release.

It used to be like that, but since a while ago the banner has been dropped. No more big advertisements in Opera!
(To me opera is like FF without having to install all those extensions, because it is pretty complete as is. Both browsers have their merits.)

I heard about this from the update newsletter. I then proceeded to go braindead and forget about it. Thanks OP

Session Saver can handle a browser crash and fetch those tabs back for you.

Great news . Heh, my browser auto-updated without me knowing it .
For those deciding, I'd recommend you atleast try it.
Ever since I got Firefox, I've never looked back. The first thing I noticed was, during my weekly scans, I got tons fewer spyware catches than I had before (IE: 50+ a week, FF: 5 a week at most). The change was crazy for me, plus the ability to squash pop-ups/ads, and the tabbed browsing (handy as hell), I've had to reason (bar Windows updates) to look back.
Here's a list of nifty extenstions:
Theme -- https://addons.mozilla.org/themes/moreinfo.php?id=72
Adblock -- https://addons.mozilla.org/extension...info.php?id=10
Adblock Filter set -- https://addons.mozilla.org/extension...fo.php?id=1136
[EDIT]
Oh yeah, if you do make the switch, Firefox will automatically import your bookmarks/settings from IE or other browsers the first time it's run.

Stumbleupon Extension FTW!!!
IE doesn't have Stumbleupon, one of the most unique extensions ever made for browsing, IMHO.
FF 1.5 and STUMBLEUPON FTW!!

This update is better than I thought o.o;
Ever since I installed it, I haven't got a SINGLE spybot. Not ONE! I even tested it by going to some.. Risque websites. Not a single bot, script or unwanted cookie. HOT DAMN!
